Meetings:
Pride Youth currently meets weekly on a Monday night between 6.30 - 8.30pm. Our sessions offer young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people a safe place to meet and we aim to provide an environment where our members can relax and have fun.
We spend time within the sessions looking at the issues faced by young LGBT people, both locally and nationally, and use a range of workshops and guest speakers to provoke discussion and learning around those issues.
Some of our recent sessions have looked at sexual health, HIV & AIDS and Internet Safety and our members have taken part in the design and development of our web site, discussion and completion of a regional hate crime survey, and have joined Stonewall in a campaign against homophobic bullying.
There are a variety of resources for young LGBT people to access, including books, magazines, DVD's, the Internet and information about different support services.
The group has ground rules, which ensure safety and confidentiality at all times.
